The May 20 meeting is one that may pay for itself and then some depending on your current situation and the tax related questions you may have. Consultants, many of whom are sole practitioners, are really small businesses in many respects. As a small business, taxes, tax planning, and learning about tax strategies becomes more complex, challenging, and perhaps even more confusing and frustrating than they were when you were an employee working for someone or someplace else. This meeting will provide you a great opportunity to learn from a business tax expert about legal ways you may be better able to handle taxes.
If you haven’t yet incorporated, this program will provide you with some of the pros and cons of the main forms of incorporation to consider from both tax and legal standpoints. Even if you are already incorporated, our speaker will provide information that will help you determine if your current form of incorporation is the best one for your current business needs. For example, is an LLC better than a corporation for someone like you? When might it make sense to change from an LLC to an S-Corp? Is it worth it for you to incorporate in Nevada? What, if any, are the benefits of a Delaware corporation? What are some of the pension plans available to the self-employed? What other questions might you have about related topics such as cancellation of debt, foreclosures, or other business tax issues?
Our speaker, Carey Lampel, is a tax planning expert who will be glad to answer tax questions of a general nature that may be of interest to others as part of her presentation. She will stay after the regular meeting to answer questions of a more specific nature.
